The Prelude...

You may have to take qualudes to deal with the 30,000 or so folks that descend on New Weston/Rossburg, Ohio, for Tony Stewart’s Victory Junction Gang Charity Benefit race, but, ‘Man, is it worth it…’

I totally intended to make fun of some of the Cup/Drag Racing set for their exploits at Eldora, but I can’t. Sure, some of them didn’t belong out there, but the show was incredible. Maybe it was because these guys don’t do this every week, they were making mistakes, potentially providing more opportunities to race. It was cool, but the coolest award of the year, thus far goes to Carl Edwards.

On his way out of Eldora, Edwards passed a young man strickened to a mechanical wheel chair and dissappeared out into the immense crowd. Less then 30-seconds later, there came Edwards sprinting back to check in on the young man in the wheel chair. I can assure you there were no cameras, no media members, not anything. Carl Edwards my friends, is the real deal…

He may have or may not have known those folks, but he easily could have kept right on going without as much as a thought. I was stunned, because I for one, didn’t take Edwards as that type of individual, but I think I’ll actually route for a Roush car occassionally on Sunday afternoons, certainly not because of the owner, but because the driver of the 99 is a pretty cool guy. I was impressed. Hey, Carl Edwards, I tip my hat to you… Keep up the good work.
